TranzAlpine Honey Wins Big in 2022
Ashburton-based OANZ member TranzAlpine Honey took home two gold and one silver award at the 2022 Inspire + NZ Artisan Awards, the biggest competition for artisanal producers in New Zealand and received the ANZ Business of the Year Award for Excellence in Export 2022.
Owner and director Yuriy was delighted and said, "New Zealand is our home, and TranzAlpine Honey is an important part of our lives. My wife Victoria and I are proud to be continuing the family legacy of beekeeping as TranzAlpine Honey enters its 112th year of business. We are committed to bringing awareness to the importance of producing honey that is organic and sustainable so that we can ensure the protection and growth of our precious pollinators for generations to come."
TranzAlpine Honey is the largest certified organic New Zealand honey producer, and the story began over 110 years ago when the Newton Family kept bees in New Zealand's remote South Island. It's been a family ran business ever since. Almost 30 years ago, in 1993, TranzAlpine Honey was certified organic via BioGro; for consumers, this means they'll find no trace of sprays or synthetic chemicals in TranzAlpine's range of honey. In addition, each batch of their honey is fully traceable to individual beehives scattered through the Canterbury high country and the remote West Coast.
On winning the ANZ award Yuriy said, ''TranzAlpine Honey is absolutely delighted and very proud to have received the ANZ Business of the Year Award for Excellence in Export 2022''.
According to the judges, 'The Excellence in Export Award was the closest of all the categories, and the winner (TranzAlpine Honey) showed all the things you would expect of a great export business. They have good connections to markets, good products, good diversity and a good story behind their products, which are organic and sustainably packaged."
