5 WAYS TO ACTIVATE CHANGE & HELP US STOP THE GENE TECHNOLOGY BILL
1. Connect with your local MP
MPs make the decisions—make sure they hear from you! Email, call, or request a meeting to tell them why you oppose the Gene Technology Bill and demand they protect consumer choice, food sovereignty, and transparency. Every voice matters!
Use the ready-made templates to quickly draft emails or letters to MPs. Customise the content to reflect your personal stance, making it more powerful and authentic.
2. Write to your local (or national) newspaper editor
Letters to the editor help raise public awareness and keep GE-free food in the spotlight.
3. Contact the supermarkets & your favourite food brands
Supermarkets and brands respond to customer demand. Write to them and ask if they will commit to keeping their products GE-free, label GE ingredients clearly, and support consumer choice. The more people who ask, the harder it will be for them to ignore.
Use your purchasing power to demand change. Access our letter templates and take action now
4. Activate your personal networks
Talk to your friends, family, work colleagues, and business connections. Encourage them to write to MPs, supermarkets, and media outlets. Share information, organise local discussions, and help spread the message—change happens when people come together!
Share this Activation Toolkit with everyone you know.
5. Use your platform: Share on social media
Social media is a powerful tool for spreading awareness. Post about the Gene Tech Bill, tag MPs, brands, and media, and encourage others to take action. Use hashtags like #GEFreeNZ, #GMOfreeNZ and #StoptheGeneTechBill to amplify the message.
