Do you want to help the Organic Sector flourish? OANZ is looking for a proactive board director with good governance skills and the ability to successfully network within the sector. If you have a strong desire to help us grow the Organic Sector, we want to hear from you.

About OANZ
Established in 2006, we are a non-profit organisation, a business network, a community and a movement. We are farmers, producers, traders, exporters and consumers and together, we created the 2022 Sector Strategy to make change a reality.

OANZ provides leadership to collaboratively work towards Organic Sector growth and policies that are good for the health of our people, communities, environment and economy. We bring together a diverse network to enable system change in food, farming and climate change on a national level. We do this through advocacy, ecosystem support and collaboration.

About this role
OANZ are seeking to appoint a new board director, their role is to oversee the strategic direction and ensure operations are in line with OANZ’s objectives and within budget.

This is a voluntary position, you will be expected to attend monthly board meetings (via zoom), two annual council meetings (via zoom, plus sub-committees and Strategy Action Groups to be a part of. The OANZ board is committed to our kaupapa of growing the Organic Sector in Aotearoa for the health of our people and planet. You’ll be joining 6 existing board directors to lead OANZ’s strategic direction, representing OANZ across various stakeholders, the Organic Sector, nationality and with Central Government.

About you
We are looking for a proactive board director that is deeply committed to the purpose and development of OANZ and the Organic Sector within Aotearoa. You will have experience leading organisations through growth, and an understanding of the Organic Sector, ideally with great links to the Organic Sector and Central Government.

To be successful, we need a board of directors that is representative of Aotearoa New Zealand. That’s why we welcome applications from every age, ethnicity, gender identity and physical/mental ability.

We commit to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles and a working knowledge of Te Tiriti is highly desirable, however, training will be provided.

Nominees are required to supply a profile outlining their involvement, present and past experience within the Organic Sector, and their goals for the future development of the OANZ. Please limit the profile to 200 words. This information will be published on the OANZ website.
